Biocenter Laboratory Scientific Lead
Human Biological Samples (HBS) are fundamental to medical research in discovering, developing and implementing new treatments and diagnostics. They are ethically sensitive materials and underpin the delivery of every clinical trial.
The Biocenter Laboratory Scientific Leadis responsible for coordinating and optimizing scientific workflows within the Biosamples team by liaising closely with Biobank, Compliance, and Clinical Sampling units, ensuring seamless lab operations. Acting as a key player in lab automation initiatives, this role will design and implement solutions that elevate laboratory efficiency and support the Biocentre’s research goals. Through expert guidance and effective communication, this role will drive continuous improvement, facilitate strategic ways of working between global groups, and ensure all scientific activities meet rigorous compliance and best practice requirements.
Typical Accountabilities
- Design and implement scientific solutions that elevate laboratory efficiency and support the Biocentre’s research goals
Scientific lead role for lab automation and other similar projects: planning, key decisions and any issues of concern, driving the functional design specification to ensure the Biocentre’s needs are met.
Liaise with all areas of Biosamples including Biobank, Compliance and Clinical Sampling teams to ensure seamless research functions
Lead effort to standardize and streamline incoming HBS data and processes used by the Biobank stakeholders by working closely with Translational scientists and Third party lab stakeholders.
Ensure reliable communication and representation with all stakeholders, providing decision-making support.
Develop and foster a culture of community and scientific excellence through effective department communications and simplification projects
Facilitate regular global leadership & science team interactions, focusing the teams involved on strategicpriorities; lead meeting content, follow up on action items and ensure that decisions made are implemented to ensure timely and successful implementation.
Provide metrics to senior leadership as required to foster continuous improvement of the Biocenter’s operating model including tracking and reporting of metrics for MTP
Manage risk using evaluative judgements in complicated or novel situations, using effective levels of interactive communication within the team and directly influencing and advising those within the team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a scientific discipline with 5+ years of experience
Basic laboratory practices
Using Human Biological samples
Using automation in lab or manufacturing setting
Planning lab automation projects
Understanding basic lab database systems
Understanding basic IT systems
Leading research initiatives involving compliant samples
Desired Qualifications:
Ph.D degree in a scientific discipline
Experience in Projects and deliverables Management
Knowledge of Regulatory areas- FDA, CLIA, ISO
GCP training
Previous experience in a similar role

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $134,892.80 - $202,339.20 USD Annual. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
